Position Overview

Under general direction, you will help plan inventory and coordinate the flow of work and materials, both direct and indirect, to meet customer delivery expectations. You will need to be able to interact with suppliers to reduce cost through various means including price negotiation, competitive bidding and securing favorable terms. Work with production, product development and the warehouse to develop efficient supply chain strategies that optimize inventory, ensure security of supply, and enable production throughput based on demand. You will report directly to the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities includes, but not limited to:

  • Strong written and oral communication abilities; creating documents and reports, presenting clear analysis to both customers and internal stakeholders, including Leadership
  • Manage vendor qualification process and vendor performance reporting
  • Evaluate and select secondary suppliers for key materials
  • Develop supplier strategies for all purchased items – both direct and indirect
  • Work closely with Operations to develop a coordinated Supply Chain and Inventory system
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot and implement corrective action on supply issues
  • Effective freight selection
  • Purchase raw materials and equipment based on production requirements
  • Initiate cost reduction programs while maintaining our high-quality standards.
  • Conduct supplier site visits/audits as required for qualification
  • Must be able to complete projects both collaboratively and independently
  • Ensure that processes meet company standards and are compliant with all regulations
  • Strong Continuous Improvement approach

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree recommended
  • 2-4 Years of related experience

Nexceris is seeking a solid oxide cell Engineer/Scientist III to support internal, commercial, and government development projects. This is a high profile cross functional role with ample room to grow and requires a high degree of creativity, application of sound engineering principles, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills. You will need be highly innovative, comfortable with project planning and execution, data generation and analysis, and data presentation to customer and government agencies. You are expected to thrive in fast paced cross functional team environment, take ownership of research projects, and work on product development. Strong fundamental knowledge in solid oxide cells (fuel cells and electrolyzers) and electrochemistry field is desired with demonstrated strong publication record. You will report directly to the Program Manager for this role You will need to have at least three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience (graduate experience counts) in solid state materials, electrochemistry, and solid oxide cells. Modeling experience and previous work with stacks is a bonus. Education: MS or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science or a related field. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute project plans through effective organizational and recordkeeping skills
  • Manage project activities to achieve on-time completion of project milestones and deliverables
  • Execute high quality research and product development with integrity
  • Write reports and prepare presentations to communicate project progress
  • Apply problem solving skills to support production and development activities across electrochemical based technologies
  • Develop new procedures and technologies that surpass current state of the art
  • Lead Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis activities
  • Contribute to Nexceris’ intellectual property portfolio through preparation of invention disclosures and patent applications
  • Be prepared to learn new approaches, technologies, and skills for professional and personal growth

 

 Preferred additional qualifications and experience:

  • Proven ability in project leadership and management, and ability to prioritize various tasks to meet deadlines
  • Ability to teach engineering principles, and provide consulting, coaching, and mentoring to early career scientists and engineers
  • Candidate has published papers as leading author (peer reviewed journals) in SOC field
  • Experienced with progress presentations to wider professional audience (conferences)
  • Highly motivated with abundance of ideas to be realized
  • Self-driven and operates with minimal management oversight
  • Training in Six Sigma or equivalent quality management tools is a plus
  • Experience with structural design and analysis, FEA, CFT, thermal and heat transfer analysis – to ensure a robust scalable stack design and system
  • Outstanding hands-on experience with excellent time management skills
  • Experienced with innovation and patent applications
  • Project execution driving mentality
  • Ability to grasp and implement new knowledge quickly

You will be directly involved in the manufacturing of materials for the fuel cell and next generation battery industry.  You must be both safety and quality focused, and willing to work in a fast-paced environment.  You must be comfortable with both standard and custom production activities, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a desire to learn new skills and capabilities.  Nexceris believes in a culture of rapid change and continuous improvement.  You will take the initiative to proactively seek out additional responsibilities.  Experience leading teams or projects is preferred.

Job requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Two-year technical degree or hands-on experience in industrial processing, custom processing or Research and Development preferred; experience with materials characterization is a plus
  • Able to work first shift Monday – Friday, with overtime offered
  • Must be consistent, observant, and conscientious
  • Practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • LEAN experience preferred
  • Leading teams or project is a plus
  • Proficient with MS Office applications
  • Able to stand and walk 6-8 hours per day and able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds
  • Must be able to execute non-standard tasks while maintaining a focus on Quality and Safety
  • Must be comfortable wearing PPE, including a respirator for certain activities
  • Takes pride and ownership of your work

Nexceris is seeking interns during the Fall 2021 – Spring 2022 term, and again during the Spring – Summer 2022 term, to support our development projects in the areas of sensors, catalyst, and solid oxide fuel cells.  These positions will involve preparation, execution and data analysis of experimental plans aimed at improving Nexceris’ technology portfolio.  The qualified candidates will be enrolled in a B.S. program in Chemical, Electrical, Material Science, or Mechanical Engineering with junior or senior class standing.  The term of the position is for three to seven months.  The candidate should have completed core science and preliminary engineering classes of their respective major.  The individual(s) will gain important hands-on experience in development of electrochemical devices and technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute experimental plans to support project objectives
  • Analyze results and communicate recommendations to project teams
  • Design and build experimental test apparatus to support development initiatives
  • Apply problem solving skills to support production and development activities across electrochemical based technologies
  • Conduct literature and patent searches to investigate and to build understanding of relevant state-of-the-art technology
