We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following positions.

Nexceris, a rapidly expanding clean energy R&D and product development company, is seeking highly skilled engineers to support commercial product development and government development projects in the field of solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) and solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology. The candidate will:

  • Lead teams in the technical execution of solid oxide stack development and demonstration projects. The engineer will identify and address technical gaps and challenges, design effective solutions, and deliver stack hardware on time to customers. Leadership will require the parallel pursuit of computer modeling/design efforts, combined with empirical validation of critical components and final stacks.
  • Lead teams in commercial and government RD&D (research, development, and demonstration) projects focused on solid oxide cell technology. Responsibilities include planning and oversight, tracking spending to budget, project reporting, and customer relationship development.
  • Contribute to business development by preparing technical proposals, presenting technical results at technical conferences, participating in technical workshops, and building a network of professional relationships with customers and collaborators.
  • In collaboration with Nexceris leadership, develop and implement a vision and mission for solid oxide stack and system businesses that are commercially-driven and profitable.

 

The ideal candidate will have strong fundamental and practical knowledge of energy and/or chemical system design, with have four to seven years of relevant industrial experience. Direct experience in modeling chemical or power system is highly valued.  Strong problem solving with safety and quality focus is required.  Technical experience with solid oxide stacks and systems is valued, but not required. Education: Advanced degree preferred in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects to achieve on-time completion of deliverables and project milestones.
  • Develop new models, tools, procedures, and technologies to surpass the current state of the art.
  • Lead high quality product development with integrity.
  • Write reports and prepare presentations to communicate project progress.
  • Serve as technical mentor to fellow team members.
  • Contribute to Nexceris’ IP portfolio via preparation of invention disclosures and patent applications.

 

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven ability in project leadership and management, and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with structural design and analysis, FEA, CFT, thermal and heat transfer analysis.
  • Outstanding hands-on experience with excellent time management skills.
  • High quality technical writing and oral presentation skills.
  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Ability to both lead and work within a team structure.

You will fill the role of LabVIEW and/or TestStand Software Technician within our Engineering Team. You will be responsible for developing test software hosted on in-house designed test stations. You will write drivers for test equipment and code tests used to validate hardware from circuit cards to sub-system components and up to systems for power generation, energy storage, remote sensing, and high temperature chemical reactors. You will generate required documentation including analysis and design trade studies, as well as participate in major design gate reviews including PDR and CDR.

Your role will require the creation of creative solutions and will require the interaction between multiple functional disciplines, including quality, product design and systems engineering, to meet program milestones and financial objectives. You will also participate in software validation and handoff to internal customers. You may support the resolution of anomalies related to the software design. Essential Functions:

  • Develop automated test software utilizing LabVIEW and/or TestStand or another compatible offering
  • Generate all associated documentation and analysis
  • Support major program design reviews
  • Support software build, integration, validation, sell-off and post sell-off anomaly investigations

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience in programming

  • Willing to Travel – Willing to travel for training (3 weeks in the first year)

You will be directly involved in the manufacturing of materials for the fuel cell and next generation battery industry.  You must be both safety and quality focused, and willing to work in a fast-paced environment.  You must be comfortable with both standard and custom production activities, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a desire to learn new skills and capabilities.  Nexceris believes in a culture of rapid change and continuous improvement.  You will take the initiative to proactively seek out additional responsibilities.  Experience leading teams or projects is preferred.

Job requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Two-year technical degree or hands-on experience in industrial processing, custom processing or Research and Development preferred; experience with materials characterization is a plus
  • Able to work first shift Monday – Friday, with overtime offered
  • Must be consistent, observant, and conscientious
  • Practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • LEAN experience preferred
  • Leading teams or project is a plus
  • Proficient with MS Office applications

Research & Development Intern (Spring 2023-Summer 2023 or Summer 2023-Fall 2023)

Nexceris is seeking interns during the Spring 2023-Summer 2023 and Summer 2023-Fall 2023 terms to support our development projects in the areas of sensors, batteries, catalyst, and solid oxide fuel cells.  These positions will involve preparation, execution and data analysis of experimental plans aimed at improving Nexceris’ technology portfolio.  The qualified candidates will be enrolled in a B.S. program in Chemical, Electrical, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering with junior or senior class standing.  The normal term of the position is for seven to eight months.  The candidate should have completed core science and preliminary engineering classes of their respective major.  The individual(s) will gain important hands-on experience in development of electrochemical devices and technology.
