Chemical Manufacturing
Chemical manufacturing is entering a new era, with fundamental shifts in chemical production, raw materials and process design.
The resurgence of North American oil, and particularly natural gas, creates new product logistics streams, which require new catalysts, new reactors, and new technologies. Nexceris can provide end-users with a range of proprietary catalyst formulations, which are described below.
Nexceris also offers unique technologies for the development of structured catalysts. Leveraging our proprietary corrosion-prevention coatings, a range of metal substrates can be converted to high thermal conductivity supports, in monolithic or foam designs. These materials offer unique combinations of high surface area, tortuosity and thermal conductivity.
In addition, Nexceris custom materials synthesis and washcoating services for user-defined catalyst materials, provide firewalled process facilities to protect sensitive IP.
Nexceris has expertise in the synthesis of base-metal oxide and PGM-catalysts, as well as sorbents and guard bed materials, which can be provided in pelletized, granular or powder formats. Catalysts can be also be provided on ceramic and metallic monoliths.
Fuels and Energy for Biomass
Biofuel production offers a path to low carbon footprint, renewable fuels. To maximize their value and benefit to customers, refiners need to create efficient processes at a system size that balances the economies of scale and the cost of transport to centralized facilities. At the heart of these economics lies the performance of catalysts designed for novel production systems.
Nexceris has developed catalysts for gasified biomass cleanup to remove tars and improve process yields. The catalyst converts tars (and methane) to syngas, even in the presence of sulfur. The catalyst protects sensitive downstream process equipment and catalyst beds from tar deposition.
Beyond this catalyst, Nexceris offers custom materials synthesis and washcoating services for user-defined catalyst materials, providing firewalled process facilities to protect sensitive IP. We have worked with a number of biomass-to-liquids, -chemicals, and -power system developers to create tailored catalysts.
Nexceris Updates
Accelerated Testing for Long-Term Results with Solid Oxide Fuel Cells
To achieve commercial acceptance, long-term stability testing is critical to demonstrate improved durability of protective coatings. Nexceris has successfully developed a suite of coatings to provide improved high-temperature protection to metallic components used in solid-oxide fuel cells (SOFC).
Revisiting Nexceris’ Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Advancements from MS&T 2018
Remember MS&T 2018 in Columbus, Ohio? No?! Well, all of us at fuelcellmaterials want you to remember what we talked about and fueled up your brain a bit.
Functional SOFC Interface Coatings Presented at European SOFC & SOE Forum
Nexceris was honored to give a presentation at the 13th European SOFC & SOE Forum on our development of various SOFC interfaces created by aerosol-spray deposition. Our Director of Materials Science, Neil Kidner, recently gave a talk on July 4th at the conference, which is held every two years in beautiful Luzern, Switzerland.
